ICI - Italian Tax - Exemption for ground based photovoltaic plants

According to the General Counsel of the Notaries - the association of the Italian notaries - the ground-based photovoltaics plants in Italy are exempt from paying the ICI (Imposta Comunale Immobili) - the tax on the building surfaces. In the recent years, and expecially from 2011, the Municipalities are actively pursuing the pv plants to charge rich taxes from the large plants built on the ground.
Now the opinion released by the Notiaries in July 2011 is turning down the expectations of the dryed pockets of the Municipalities and releasing the the pv investors from a huge tax.
